If you follow us on twitter, instagram, facebook, or have ever seen any of our team members (or any of their friends...or family...or friends of friends...or anyone they know) in person, you have probably seen our PledgeCents bracelets!
So other than "where can I get one?" (answer: here), the first question that might come to your mind is "why does PledgeCents, the crowdfunding platform for K-12 education, make bracelets?" And "why do the bracelets have a penny in the middle?"
When founders Andyshea and Ricky decided to start PledgeCents, they did so with the idea of creating more than a place where teachers could post their needs and raise money for their classroom--they wanted to create a movement. Just like Aggies chase each other down when they see a class ring, we want our supporters to be able to identify other advocates for education. What better way to do that than with something people can wear day in and day out? So many other movements have bracelets that look the same (silicone with writing on them), and we knew we wanted our bracelets to look different and be more meaningful!
The penny represents our motto, Because Every Cent Counts, meaning every cent raised on our platform will help a student receive better educational opportunities. No contribution is ever too small.
Bracelets have been a part of the PledgeCents model since day one and, to date, over 3,000 people are rocking their PledgeCents swag! When we travel to events for teachers, we bring our bracelets. We encourage anyone who supports students receiving the best education possible to wear the bracelets, and there is nothing more exciting that seeing pictures of people all over the country (and even in other countries!) wearing our arm candy. We hope that the unique design of these bracelets will serve as a conversation starter, bringing even more people into our PledgeCents Community and raising awareness about classroom needs across the country.
The best part of purchasing a bracelet on our site is that in addition to showing your support by wearing a bracelet (and looking really stylish doing it), the money you spend on your bracelet goes directly to classrooms in need.
As we continue to grow our movement and our community of educators and supporters, we will keep distributing these bracelets! If you don't have one yet, never fear, they are always available on our website in many awesome colors.
