Cents in Action: What you can do with your cents!

Normally for our weekly Cents in Actions posts, we focus in on one teacher and how the money they have raised on PledgeCents has affected their students and classroom. This week, we are going to showcase the wide variety of different resources, trips, and other amazing things teachers have raised money for on our platform! All the way from raising $75 to raising over $10,000, we love to see how teachers take advantage of the flexibility of PledgeCents and raise the money they need to provide what is going to mean the most to their students!

First, we want to share with you our smallest ever raise on PledgeCents. Argie Campbell of The Soulsville Charter School in Memphis, Tennessee wanted to raise $50 in one week to reward her students with a pizza party. In only a week, she exceeded her goal and raised $75! Just look at the big smile on her student's face when he heard the good news!

Next, take a look at the first ever field trip cause on PledgeCents! Vida Pascual of YES Prep West, located right here in Houston, raised $500 to take 50 students to San Antonio to participate in a day of community service! Since Vida’s field trip cause ended back in January, many more teachers have followed suit and are raising money to take their students on some amazing field trips.

Other teachers have found ways to expose their students to what’s going on in the world around them without ever leaving their classroom. Chelsea Deutsch of Northbrook High School in Houston exceeded her goal of $832 and raised $855 to purchase a magazine subscription to The Week magazine for each of her government students.

Another unique and exciting cause on PledgeCents came from Heather Painter of KIPP Delta Elementary Literacy Academy in Helena, Arkansas. Heather exceeded her $750 goal, raising $803 dollars to open a school store where her third grade students can use the imaginary dollars they earn as rewards! Not only are the students excited to be able to spend their dollars, but they are also getting to learn all about saving and budgeting!

The teachers who use PledgeCents serve as an inspiration for us, and we are always amazed to see the creative ideas they have for their schools and classrooms. Teachers like these are one of the main reasons that we do not limit teachers to purchasing from specific vendors or set limits on what they can or can’t raise money for. We hope that reading about some of the amazing ideas these teachers had about how to serve their students will inspire you to think outside the box about what you can do for your students, organization, or school. The sky is the limit! If you want more ideas, check out some of the great causes currently on the site! If you want to talk through an idea, shoot us an email at info@pledgecents.com!

We hope you will get started in creating your own cause or investing in one of the great PledgeCents classrooms to make each and every cause a reality!
