PledgeCents Joins 100Kin10!

“We are incredibly humbled by the opportunity to join 100Kin10, and excited for the opportunities that such an elite network of educational changemakers working together will bring to our amazing teachers and deserving students!"

- Ricky Johnson, co-founder of PledgeCents

Three months ago PledgeCents was nominated to apply for 100Kin10. Today we are proud to announce that PledgeCents is now one of 280 organizations working toward the mission of increasing access to STEM education by adding 100,000 STEM teachers by 2021. Woohooo! As part of 100kin10, PledgeCents has committed to delivering $2 million critical STEM resources and opportunities to more than 5,000 classrooms and 125,000 students across the country by 2019. And as we usually do with goals we set for ourselves, our expectations are to deliver much more. (Read the full press release here).

If you haven’t heard of 100Kin10 before, we’ve provided our ‘cliff notes’ version below, but we want to start by explaining what this means for our hardworking teachers.
What does this mean for you?

We believe great teachers are the key to every child’s success - our future. That’s why we work everyday to reach teachers to help and create new ways to provide resources. However, we can only do so much alone.

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

Being accepted means the opportunity to collaborate and innovate with 280 education changemakers who are all working to help improve our education. This idea of togetherness and collaboration is an idea that is core to PledgeCents and one that we continue to see with our partners and others across education. Together we are smarter, stronger and more powerful in bringing about change, progress and innovation to ensure that every student has the education it deserves. Our vow to you is to collaborate to bring about new funding opportunities, greater access to resources and new ideas to support our teachers that we haven’t even thought of yet.

What this doesn’t mean is that we will focus any less of our efforts on other areas. Our commitment does not stop at STEM, but to reach all subjects and all students as no two students are alike. Instead, this next step has merely raised our expectations of what we aim to achieve for all teachers.

We are excited to take this next step with you and invite you to join us in fulfilling our commitment because we can’t do it without you. Without our teachers, parents and partners, we wouldn’t know the dire needs of our students. Without our investors, we wouldn’t be able to fulfill those needs and create better opportunities for our students. So let’s stand together because “Together, We'll Solve It!”

About 100Kin10

100Kin10 was launched in 2011 following President Obama’s 2010 call to bringing more STEM teachers to our classrooms. Since 2011 100Kin10 partners have been working towards this goal in various ways, training over 28,000 STEM teachers to date. Partners are made up of leading public, private, and non-profit organizations that have outlined their own commitment to strategically addressing the nation’s shortage of STEM teachers. Through this cross-sector approach, partners access resources, opportunities to collaborate and a knowledge base to help train 100,000 STEM teachers by 2021.
