2nd Annual Houston Rodeo Fundraiser...Success

2012, an idea was created. 2014, a solution was made. Today, over 1,000 schools in 48 states have utilized the PledgeCents solution to put over $450,000 back into their classrooms! And it's all thanks to you, the investors!

As fortunate products of great Houston education, Andy & Ricky (our Co-Founders), wanted to make sure that events in their hometown were part of their awareness strategy. Our Houston area events have allowed our team to engage with more millenials and open their eyes to impact philanthropy. In the two years, we have hosted 10 events around the Houston area and have brought out over 1,100 young Houstonians to help raise over $20,000 for classrooms!

These events are not fancy events. They are very casual events targeted to grow the awareness of PledgeCents, but more importantly, to show millenials that they can make a direct impact with just $10. This is line with the first line in the NPR article, How Millennials Are Reshaping Charity And Online Giving, "Millennials are spending — and giving away their cash — a lot differently than previous generations, and that's changing the game for giving, and for the charities that depend on it."

On March 6th, The Durham House in Houston welcomed our attendees with open arms! The Durham House is a new restaurant in Houston that has a very strong passion behind helping our education system locally, and nationwide. To show their support, they contributed 100% of all proceeds directly back to classrooms! Usually, restaurants will contribute 10-20%, but The Durham House wasn't playing around. :)

That beatufiul Sunday afternoon, over 175 Houstonians attended to enjoy a one-of-a-kind 4 course brunch prepared by prominent Houston chef, Chef McElroy. Solely through ticket sales and a fun raffle, over $4,000 was raised for classrooms! View pictures from the amazing day here or read the news coverage by CultureMap Houston.

“We understand that as these events are bringing in smaller investment totals, they are helping cultivate more passionate supporters. We are making a way for our friends, millennials, to make a tangible and direct impact in a classroom in a way they've never been able to before...and have fun at the same time."

We want to thank every one who came out to the RodeoBrunch on March 6th. We encourage all of our attendees to have that event not be the last time you engage with PledgeCents, but just the first. Our students and our teachers need us now more than ever, and we are honored to work alongside some amazing investors who want to see that positive change happen in our classrooms!

Until next time...
